Access
What is an Access to HE course?
A 32 week course designed for adults who wish to enter Higher Education to do a degree or diploma course. No prior academic qualifications are necessary but students must be motivated to follow a substantial course of study.
What does the course include?
The course consists of a range of topic based units that are accredited by the Open College Network at Levels 2 or 3.
Unit topics for the course include:
• Study Skills
• Psychology
• Sociology
• Human Biology/ Health Sciences
• English Literature
• Literacy
• Numeracy
• ICT/e-learning
To gain the Access Diploma, students must achieve 60 credits (45 credits at level 3).
Course Fees/Support
The course fees require a student contribution of £270. You may be eligible for fee remission and additional funding support via the:
• Adult learning grant
• Free childcare for learning
What can I do at the end of the course?
If you successfully complete the course, it will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification to progress to a:
• Part-time or full-time Degree or Diploma course in the broad health, social science, humanities, management or nursing fields
• Foundation Degree (FD), or HE Certificate course.
